Shari's Cafe And Pies

We ordered the Country Fried Steak breakfast and it was incredible. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge. The country fried steak was delicious with a good gravy and not greasy. The scrambled eggs, hash browns, and pancakes all had a good flavor. My husband and I shared the breakfast and could barely finish it. We were stuffed for the day. We were visiting with an Aunt we hadn't seen in 40 years. She had a burger and fries and said they were delicious. She took half of hers home. After seeing some of the negative reviews, we were doubtful; but can honestly say we had a great meal. The waitress didn't refill my water glass so I drank everyone else's water since they had other drinks, but I think she was trying not to disturb us. When we were leaving, I forgot my Wet Ones on the table and she came outside to give them to me. So nice of her. That definitely makes up for not refilling the water glass.

On Valentine's day my husband and I enjoyed a midday meal at Shari's. Because we're retired and on a limited budget we seldom dine out. When we do, we can only hope that our meals are properly prepared. We were delighted with the food and the service. My made to order Russian omelette was perfect. My husband's over-medium eggs were exactly to his liking. Simple fare prepared with extraordinary care. Thank you, Shari's staff, for a lovely Valentine's day.

I come here when there are not many people. There is no guacamole on the menu. so I ordered a portion of guacamole and it was by far the best guacamole, not even my Mexican mother or my grandmother have made this guacamole. Please add the guacamole to the menu. Usually I never eat desserts, this time I did, I'll back tomorrow and the day after. I wrote this review not knowing how much I will pay, but I really don't care.

Nice place. A little run down but food was fine and service was efficient. We had just spent all day driving from Seattle and had to take a detour through Portland because all the mountain passes were chains required. I got the T-bone steak meal and it was surprisingly good. Wife got fish and chips and she liked them. We took a marionberry cheese pie slice back to the hotel, and it was extremely good too.

The food was okay, pretty standard fare for a chain restaurant, but the service was abysmal. It wasn't even busy, and we waited about 20-25 minutes just to have our order taken, let alone receive the two drinks we asked for upon being seated. Worst part is, the waitress assigned to us walked by our table multiple times and completely ignored us during this wait. When the waitress finally brought us our food, my wife asked for a refill on her soda but never got it. I suppose they expected her to go get it herself or something. Then when it came time to pay we waited another inordinate amount of time just so we could give them our money and leave. The gentleman in front of us was picking up a to-go order and asked for two pieces of pie. It took them seven minutes to figure out how to stick two pieces of pie in a container. When we *finally* got to the register they couldn't find our ticket in their system. So we kissed another five minutes or so of our valuable time goodbye as they figured it out. I'd say these folks have all the organizational skills of a bucket full of ferrets, but that would be doing a disservice to the bucket full of ferrets.

Excellent Service and Friendly Staff - working very hard under tough conditions. They were obviously pretty under-staffed, but those who were working did everything they could to ensure everyone was fed and looked after. The food was excellent and the staff worked their butts off to take care of everyone. Thanks for making my stop in Pendleton even nicer! :)
