Steak 'n Shake

This Steak n Shake is often overlooked and forgotten about. However, it was probably the best experience I've had with the chain in quite some time. The manager made rounds to make sure everything was good. The server was a hawk and made sure we didn't need refills and that our food came out perfect. She was super friendly. Food was phenomenal.

I love steak and shake so much but this one is seriously the worst. My last visit was pretty bad. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were one of only 2 tables. The waitress gave us our menus and we asked for a minute to look them over. She talked to her co-worker for what seemed like forever until i waved over and asked him to send her back to us. She said she forgot. Not sure how that happens. Messed up our food quite a bit too. Bathrooms had spilled cleaner all over the floor. I feel sorry for the manager....he was working super hard😫😫

Food was excellent but the eating area was not that clean. Tables were not cleaned off that well and the windows ledges hadn't been wiped out for awhile. We tried 3 different ketchup and mustard containers from 3 different tables and they were all very sticky like they hadn't been washed off for awhile. And we weren't the only ones that noticed this!!

This place has gone down hill! I stopped in late at night and the place was filthy. There was stuff all over the floor and dirty tables. The bathrooms had paper towels overflowing out of the wastebasket. Employees seem like they could care less about the customers or the state of the restaurant. The waiter said they were cleaning the grease fryers so we couldn't order fries or onion rings. There were flies in the ketchup bottles. We ate burgers and both of us got food poisoning. Will not return to this location!

This place is terrible. I've been here two or three times thinking it can't keep getting worse and trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, apparently that's too much. Everytime I come in this place the employees act like they could care less to be there or that I am there. One time it took almost 45 minutes for me to get one steak burger and one fry, they always make my burger wrong even when I go in and order. They forget my drink when I order one. I feel like I can't touch anything in there it is so dirty. The floor is usually sticky, the counter and tables are sticky and dirty, I don't think they ever get wiped off unless you ask someone to, and there's crumbs in the booth where you are supposed to sit. The ketchup and mustard container that sits on the table this last time actually had flies stuck on it!! There were nats flying around that I had to swat at while waiting for my food and I should have just left then because the next day I ended up getting sick to my stomach!! The previous time I was in there they had one guy working because the other girl who was supposed to be working with him was in her car asleep because she was tired, then the guy that was in there alone cooking sat there and cooked one order at a time. Also, this last time I was in there they couldn't serve any fried food, that meant no chicken, no fish, no fries, no onion rings nothing because they were changing the grease in the dryer. Why would you change both fryers at the same time? They have two for a reason, several reasons. After this last experience with the flies and nats and not being able to order anything fried I will never go back to this place. One of these days you are going to get someone really really sick and they are going to come and shut this place down, which I will be calling the health department myself and hopefully it's a start. I'm not trying to be rude but for the safety of the public the owners should be taking better care of this place.

This is the most poorly managed S&S in Peoria Illinois. 1 other customer in the restaurant & no one available to seat, tables were dirty, placemats reused & dirty, A/C temporary large tube blocking bathroom doors, & dirty floors. 7 staff plus a manager on duty but only 1 lady waiting on tables & then cooking orders. Other staff on phones, eating @ counter, sitting in booths, and reading menus. As a customer I had to ask for silverware & napkins & finally had to go 2x to get some. Had to go to the counter for a drink refill. Had to go & ask for a bill. Pancakes we're tiny & greasy with 1/2 tablespoon of butter. Talked to the manager, but when your whole experience is this bad my recommendation is fire this guy? Your business is being sabotaged by this lazy group of people. You can & should do better!
