O'toole's Restaurant & Pub

Very nice Irish pub/restaurant with a large bar and many choices of beer. The food is hearty, delicious, and the portions are generous. The spaghetti O’Toole was really good, as were their crab cakes and steak. Street parking can be difficult, but there is a Truist Bank parking lot across the street that can be used after they close.

Holy cow! Am I glad I found O'Toole's! We were visiting the Petersburg Battle Field and used Google to find somewhere to eat. Google steered us to this gem. The atmosphere feels like a local pub and it's welcoming at the same time. Service was prompt and attentive. It's the kind of place that you wish were closer to home. The menu had several traditional Irish pub offerings but also had extensive salads and a couple of surprises. Prices were reasonable and this has become a mandatory stop when I'm in the area. Do yourself a favor and go to O'Toole's!

Been here a couple times over the past couple months, to see bands and grab a bite. Love the friendly & festive atmosphere. Service is friendly and you get your food in a timely manner. However, the wait staff doesn't check back with you quite as often as I would prefer (once every 20 mins on average I'm guessing). The Philly Steak Sub ($12) is very good, as are the skinny fries. However the Guacamole & Chips ($10) was disappointing. The guacamole was very bland/plain-tasting and the chips were cold, unsalted and not very fresh. We'll definitely keep returning to O'Toole's, but we won't be ordering the Guac & Chips again. P.S. Like a lot of restaurants these days, O'Toole's now upcharges 3% if you pay with a credit card. So bring cash if want to avoid that charge.

We came on the mission of onion rings. I will say the onion rings were great, but they did lack a little salt or seasoning in the breading. They were pretty plain, but they were super crunchy and just what I was looking for. The Cajun ranch that was served on the side was salty enough, and it balanced out. The Reuben sandwich was grilled so well. The fried apples could have used more cinnamon and salt but I ate them with no issue. Our server was so nice and helpful. And all around very pleasant experience. However, I will say that the hostess should had set us at a bigger booth, because we are bigger people. I found the couples booth to be uncomfortable with no elbow room. That is the only complaint I really have. Everything was great.

We celebrated a 70th birthday party with a buffet of chicken wings, barbecue with rolls and cole slaw, french fries, a veggie platter and several sauces and dips. No one's glass was ever empty! Our waitress was terrific. We used the back banquet room and had plenty of room for a group of about 25. Everything was great and was worth every penny we spent.
