Wine Country Bistro

A Daddy and Son review! First, I'm not a food critic. Instead, I'm a single father wanting to still have a feel of elegance with a mature environment. I love when there are places like wine country bistro that allow me to bring my kid and still give me the feel of being a person too. Not just a single parent. The food carries a mid to high price tag for the portions, but the service from the staff made it feel like you aren't just paying for the food but for the whole experience. Compliments to the chefs for making the food in such a way that you leave totally full, considering the smaller portions. I guess there is something to be said for quality over quantity. The chef's are quality, pure quality. A rare thing. Compliments to Dylan, our waiter, he was on top of things and made us laugh and feel genuinely happy. Lets see. Overall, small portions, surprisingly filling, and an environment worth the price. A stop for anybody, even single parents with their kids, that want great food, if you dont mind spending more than a normal meal, it's a great experience too! A tip. If your kid loves fries, then going off the kid menu to the truffle fries is a must!

We went for the 318 week lunch special, Bohemian brisket. Six of us had the special. The 3 year old had fried fish. The brisket was outstanding very flavorful and tender. The sides were good. I had a bite of the fish. It was good, crisp batter and moist inside. The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. They put two tables together on the outdoor patio, so we could all eat together. Service was prompt and attentive. I sensed that they don't have a lot of young children as regulars. I would be hesitant to have young children in the formal dining or bar areas.

The food is really good. Everything I have had here tastes excellent, although portions are on the smaller size. The space is well decorated and lit. Service, on the other hand, is mediocre at best. I have never had a positive service experience here. They are always rude, particularly if you don't have reservations. I would understand this if it were on a busy night with a packed house, but they are very ready to show their discontent with walk-ins even when there are 10 people in the restaurant and 70% of tables are empty. They have also refused to honor their happy hour specials. The server told me when I got the bill that they ran out of well liquor and therefore the drinks that I ordered would not be included in the special. This would have been fine if they told me when I ordered instead of when I got my bill. Poor experiences overall multiple times. I will not be returning.

My favorite thing here is their flank steak with their carrots... Yes, flank steak is an okay cut of meat and carrots are normally just a bit of color to a plate but not here... They are insanely amazing. The flank steak is seasoned and cooked perfect. The carrots are multicolored and some of the best I have ever had. It's truly an incredible meal. -also, if you like greens... They are a sweet take on it and are great as well.

The food is really good. The happy hour used to be something to come for, especially when they had specialty martinis for half price. Now, they work on nickel-and-diming you on both drinks and snacks. They have shrunken my favorite snack- truffle fries- to a handful instead of the bowl it used to be. They do not have any fun drinks on happy hour. If it were just happy hour that has fallen, I could almost understand that they were just trying to chase off the happy hour crowd. But even when going to a dinner or event here, they have an up charge for EVERY single thing and the service is horrible. I do not like super saucy dishes. Once I had a dish that was served with almost no sauce, so the next time I asked to make sure that it had enough sauce on it and they charged me extra. I conveyed to the waitress that I didn't want EXTRA sauce, I just wanted enough for the dish. She did not even mention that she would charge me for the "extra" sauce. I guess it is my fault for assuming that a $25 dish should be palatable. The waitstaff is hard to find when you do want a drink or anything else. They might be understaffed, or the waitstaff just may not be that experienced. It is almost a new staff each time I go. There is potential here, but the management needs to think about where the restaurant is headed.

My Dad & I went for Sunday Brunch. Being my 45th Bday we arrived around 1:40. The waiter was friendly but not very attentive ie no spoons or cream for our coffee and had to ask for the sugar. Food was excellent except I got a waffle to go and my dessert they offered for my Birthday free of charge. Upon ordering I asked waiter what dessert he likes best out of blueberry bread pudding or strawberry tart. I get home waffle is completely burnt and it's a piece of chocolate cake. Never did I ask for chocolate anything. Very disappointing. Not to mention the bar is being covered and chairs put up around us. Rude. Regardless of the time we were in the bar and wanted to freely enjoy our meal without being rushed. But definitely were. The food got the 2 stars everything else was disappointing.
