Cantina Laredo

Easy convenient location to get to. Clean and cool environment with plenty of seating. Nice clean restrooms but with black toilets. Food looks great as in the presentation is well delivered. The queso is basic velveta queso. Honestly, I think it is the worst queso in town. The service was excellent but that food was a no for me. Mine lacked flavor other than too skimpy too hot verda sauce they put on the top of my enchiladas. No one wants that much raw cabbage on their food nor do they want boxed rice with their meal. The crispy pork bowl had scorched meat to the point it made it taste awful. I don’t think I will be back. Maybe this is like Superior and people go here for the drinks!

I had high hopes for this place but it didn't live up to my expectations. I was invited here for a business meeting and was looking forward to try it. I enjoyed the chips and salsa. The chips were thin and the salsa was roasted. I ordered a trio of enchiladas but they were just average. They rated a 10 on presentation but the food was just ok. Being a higher end Mexican restaurant, I expected better. The food just wasn't that flavorful. I would like to go back and try something different to see if my opinion would change. I would go for the chips & salsa but not the food I ate that day. Service was quite slow due to a business party of 20+ and only one waitress taking care of us.

The food here is always good. My problem on this particular visit is the dog roaming in the area where I was sitting. A customer was allowed to have her dog( not a service dog) in the restaurant at the bar. She just let him roam around and the staff just went right on with what they were doing. We complained to the manager. He said, “We don’t always make them leave with their pets if they are not bothering anybody”. I was clearly bothered if my friend and I complained. He then made her hold the dog. So she sat at the bar with drinking with the dog in her lap for maybe 30 min. Then she put the dog down and he went back to to roaming and sniffing. I am aware that this is a pet-friendly restaurant; however, there was no regard to customers who may be allergic to dogs or have a phobia. The dog was not leashed. He even followed her to the restroom twice. Either, she should have been made to leash the dog and move to the patio or leave the restaurant. This is not ok. Their information states that dogs are welcome on the patio. Management needs to be clear about this policy and enforce it.

The atmosphere is always good, and service is great. However, on a recent visit, I ordered a shrimp salad for big bucks, and it came with just four little grilled shrimp, two pineapple chunks and one very thinly sliced strawberry on top. There seemed to be a sprinkling of chopped nuts there, too. I should have sent it back and reordered, because I definitely did not get enough food for what I paid!!!

Cantina Laredo is one of our favorite places. I’ll have to do an update when we go for brunch one day. This was date night. Rudy was our server and was excellent! The restaurant was clean and not loud for being busy. We sat close to the kitchen so there was a lot of traffic but didn’t bother us any. We ordered top self guac and Queso to go with our chips and salsa. All of which was amazing. I swear their guac gets better everytime we come. I had the carne asada and I changed it to come with asparagus and zucchini my other half had Camaron poblano asada with came with shrimp and was stuffed full. The meat in both dishes were tender and cooked to our liking. For dessert we tried the churros with 2 sauces. The food was amazing tonight! Truly satisfying & the service was fantastic!

Oh no. I'm going to tell you how it really is before you waste your money. We sat 40 minutes before being waited on-despite the waiter coming in and out several times. (We sat outside) The food was AWFUL. Like not just a little bit bad-really terrible. My enchiladas tasted like they were seasoned with cumin, as in tacos, but also Italian seasoning, as in spaghetti. My stomach turns just thinking about the way they tasted and the fact that we spent $20 on them just for them to be so awful. Out of the three of us, none of us could finish our food. My husband is taking his leftovers to the neighbor's dog, his meat was so dry. Don't waste your money here. It's way overpriced and sooooo not good. The couple next to us literally ate their chips and left. It's so bad. Just don't do it.
