The Brasserie

I’ve been here for breakfast several times and the buffet is outstanding - a great selection of hot items, pastries, cheeses and fruit. That said, it’s about $40 for a buffet breakfast which is on the pricey side, even though this place is in the rocks. Service is ok. Can be a little slow when busy in terms of waiting for coffee etc.

Like others noted the fact it’s in a 5 star hotel we expected more. Very limited cold seafood prawns and crab. Prawn was average in flavour but the crab saved the day. Though small in size, sweet juicy flesh. Oysters were too small and average at best. The salads were good. Must of the hot food lacked any flavour. Surprisingly the bbq duck was the best. The desserts were wide and varied and generally tasty. Service was good though. Glad we used Groupon but still not worth it IMO.

It’s meant to be inside a 5 star hotel. It’s now a Chinese tour group cafe. Forget coming here if you had a seafood buffet a few years ago at this place. Now it’s basic frozen prawns, a few bugs (be quick) calamari rings - and some low grade (small) fresh oysters. No whole fish, no salmon, no lobster, no crabs, no variety of fish dishes. The salads were weird - jellyfish, seaweed and lotus seeds featured. The petit fours were good hotel standard, as was the (limited) cheese. Staff were embarrassed but good.

Terrible Christmas dinner buffet! False advertising on their menu published before this festive event. There was no explanation of a change of menu when we arrived Prepayment was necessary but when we arrived there was only three other parties dining during our seating session. Our server told us he'd been working since 5am and couldn't tell us what drinks were included in our drinks package. When I asked where the advertised warm lobster tails with bearnaise sauce were I was told that was not done due to the chef's error and they were actually cold and mixed in with the Balmain Bugs. On top of the inaccurate menu/lack of food the argumentative nature of the restaurant manager that night truly ruined or Christmas dinner. All servers were clearly exhausted. I'm am very disappointed with this restaurant they do not live up to the standards of a Shangri-La. I am still waiting on a promised refund or a response to three emails I have sent.
