Tavern On 17th

I come here all the time! Service is amazing and the food is always Awsome. Just ate the nachos and the presentation was Awsome but the flavor was better. I can’t even explain how great this place is. The environment service and food is so great my favorite place to go for food or a drink in Wilmington.

First time experience but not the last. They weren't extremely busy and were seated promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Calamari app was very good. For the main course, we ordered crab cakes and grilled salmon. All I can say is wow! Both were excellently and the flavor was outstanding! We are definitely going back as we want to try other dishes. Highly recommend this place.

At 5 pm on Friday evening, Phase 2 of the stay-at-home order began, allowing restaurants to operate at 50% capacity inside. My wife, son & I chose to dine at Tavern on 17th at The Pointe in Wilmington. FOOD: Mexican Street Corn Dip appetizer, Ahi Tuna and Arugula Salad with a Peanut Vinaigrette dressing and a Mozzarella Flatbread. Our son throughly enjoyed the flatbread and said that he would love to come back for more. That was a positive sign considering our son tends to get picky. Lol. The arugula in the salad was crisp, fresh and light. Very nice. The peanut vinaigrette dressing offered a pleasant balance of tangy, sweet and savory that complimented the fresh, leafy arugula. The ahi tuna was served up more medium-rare than seared, leaving it with slightly cooked fishy notes and topped with tuxedo sesame seeds. I would have preferred the tuna less cooked but, overall, it was good. The best item tasted was the Mexican Street Corn Dip appetizer. I was skeptical about ordering this appetizer due to how strong and pungent cotija cheese can be. But this dip tasted similar to a creamy, southwest queso and frijoles dip. All items tried were good but just didn't have the combinations of flavors to blow my tastebuds away in terms of "pub" / "tavern" food. SCORE: 3.9 STARS!! SERVICE: We had the fortunate opportunity of having Javy serve us this evening, prepared with his mask and operating at a safe distance. Javy was very social, checked in often to ensure our drinks were adequate and was very friendly. Area of opportunities: The Mexican Street Corn Dip appetizer was forgotten and was eventually delivered approx. 5 mins after our meals were served. Javy did apologize when he returned with the appetizer but this time...served with Keebler Club Crackers rather than fresh tortilla chips, as advertised on their menu. When this was brought to Javy's attention, he again apologized and returned with tortilla chips. When the check was presented, I noticed the appetizer and my son's drink missing from the bill and brought it to Javy's attention. He said he made mistakes and that those charges would not be my responsibility. I admired and respected that he took the initiative to own up to these shortcomings and attempt to rectify the situation. SCORE: 3.25 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: Tavern on 17th is a nice and clean place to socialize, enjoy a wide variety of cocktails and to enjoy some above-average "pub" food. If it had not been for a few miscues, Tavern could have scored slightly higher. They have good food, use fresh ingredients and are served up by a friendly staff. 3.6 STARS!!
