Blue Plate

Another restaurant that we had mixed feelings about. I would give closer to a 3.5 stars. Based on what we ordered, this is our thoughts: 1. Atmosphere - beautiful and we sat outside and the day was gorgeous. 2. Service - okay, not great as I found it a little slow 3. Food: a. Pita bread - excellent b. Calamari - just okay c. Pork Schnitzel - not as authentic as we expected d. Chicken Kebab - that was excellent e. Apple strudel - not authentic and what we expected Overall, I would still give this place a try as someone else may think differently and may like it but we are used to more authenticity for some of the dishes we really wanted.

A hit and miss experience...... the pretzel appetizer was very tasty, along with the meatloaf for dinner was great and filling. They serve fresh warm bread to start with. But the service was slow and boarderline rude. We asked the server to order all our food and drinks at once because we were very tired and didn't want a super long meal. His ignored us and said we need to order drinks first and get those before we place our meal order..... what? Really? The restaurant was dated and needs to be freshened up. There are plenty of places with food just as good with less attitude.

I travel in the Vail Avon and Edwards area frequently and anytime I am in town I try to find a new place to eat. I have to say that the blue plate is a must visit restaurant and can't believe I've been missing it all of this time. The Med is one of the most beautiful plates of food I've ever seen and it was delicious as well. The staff was exceptionally attentive and really makes you feel welcome and almost familial. It was great to be able to thank the chef personally for my meal. Chef Adam is very knowledgeable in his craft. Don't miss this place if you're in Avon..

I’ve never had such a unique platting experience. I ordered the fish and chips. It was displayed wonderfully on my plate, and tasted delicious. My wife had the famous schnitzel, which was also delicious. We got to eat outside on the patio on a surprisingly warm early April day. The service was great, and outside dining setting was beautiful. Highly recommended.

We arrived late to the Bear Creek/Avon area but decided to stop by and try to get some New Year Eve dinner. I called ahead and they said they had room at the bar - score! We thought we weren't going to be able to find a place with seating last minute on NYE and was glad this place did. We were excited to see the snow out front with the twinkly Christmas lights on the patio - it was beautiful from the outside. We came in and it was warm and cozy. They even had a high top table for us right in front of the kitchen service area - not a big deal but this area was a clustered mess. I think they were aiming for an open kitchen but failed to execute because it was just chaotic to watch. *Calamari - a bit on the small side, way overly battered and not a lot of squid. It almost tasted greasy. 2/5 *Lobster Bisque was the soup of the night and on the NYE prefixed menu. We ordered a bowl of this and the server took it upon himself to bring out two cups so we didn't have to split/share. This was nice of him to do but the bowl content was a lot bigger/more than the two mini cups combined. We felt gypped. But that wasn't a huge problem because the bisque was overly sweet and didn't contain any lobster.. ack! 1/5 *Caesar Salad - I liked the dressing on this. It contained a strong mustard taste but we liked it. 4/5 *Beef Skewer - this is from the Tapas menu.. umm.. isn't tapas usually finger food that you can share?! Well you only get one skewer - a bit small for the price. It tasted a bit like gyro meat. The bf liked the flavor but the portion size was so ridiculous. 3/5 *Bolognese - the sauce was ok, I think it lacked meat in the meat sauce. Pasta was ok. Nothing to rave about 3/5 I'm honestly baffled as to why this place has such high reviews. Service was good but the food was mediocre, if not lacking. We didn't like anything about this place and they're fairly expensive for what you get. Wouldn't recommend it or come back anytime soon.

Probably some of the best food I have had in colorado so far! The brussel sprouts were fantasticly grilled and the pork spatzel was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of sweet berry sauce on top. I sat at the bar next to the kitchen and it was to die for! The experience was so unique watching the chef/owner cook, also it is very modern and upscale all throughout. The prices were quite reasonable with exceptional taste with a very friendly atmosphere. Highly recomended.
