Chon Tong

Chon Tong, you’re crazy. For a late dinner tonight I ordered the crispy duck, the prawn wonton, and the prawn soup (hot). I am simply floored. The crispy duck? Are you silly? We’re talking tender duck, breaded and deep fried, served on a bed of perfectly charred kale with JUST the right amount of sauce. I eat a lot of duck, I’ve never thought to bread it. Turns out I’m a fool. The wontons? Literal whole prawns are tucked into their little wonton blankets and deep fried, that’s insane. No shredded nonsense here. It’s a prawn. A beautifully marinated prawn. Ready for your mouth. The plum sauce? Not store bought, I’d wager my firstborn that they make the plum sauce in house. Nobody told me. It was like opening a Christmas present the night before to dip into that. My prawn soup? The Tom Yum Something? Delicate. Balanced. Spiced. Approachable. Dynamic. Perhaps even healing, I’m not a doctor. Thank you Chon Tong. You did a good thing.

Fantastic first experience! I will (probably) upgrade review to five stars after trying a few more meals. My wife and I usually split meals because of serving size; you definitely can split the Pad Thai. We will certainly be returning. I only spoke with one person at the restaurant and she was incredibly happy, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend you try them out.
